Day 5

Our day starts from Thunder Bay ON, a few kilometers past the city we came upon the Terry Fox Memorial. This is near the area were he unfortunately had to end his journey. After starting in the maritimes and running approximately 40 kilometers a day, 139 or so days he ran.. Crazy!!!! We are tired after 4 days of driving..

Here is Thunder Bay from far.

A picture of Ethan!! Finally, he never looks at the camera.

Ethan's first Chipmunk.  Cute and friendly little fella.

Definitely a courageous little chipmunk.

Tried to eat my toe.. guess he gets fed a lot!

A little further away, we spotted an Amethyst mine. Here are some of the amethyst they have mined so far.

Supposedly amethyst's come in different colors depending on its components.

The active mine.

In the guest digging pit looking for amethyst.

Lots of amethyst to be found.

A really cool piece they found where the amethyst has cemented the little rocks together.

Here you can see Pearl River Valley, Black Bay, Lake Superior and The Paps.

We managed to take a picture of ourselves without the help of anyone!!

If you look carefully, this is all one rock face.. The lower part is bright red, the higher section is black.

Our first closer look of Lake Superior.

Lake Superior with train track on the lower right hand corner.

Our night ends in Sault St. Marie. If everything goes well, we should be in Ottawa tomorrow night.
